I’m Bob Adcock. I was Chaplain’s Assistant in 3/1. Chaplain Gutterman and I were at the Battalion
C/P during the battle. It was a scene right out of Hell! The Chaplain and I were loading wounded on to choppers and there was regular incoming. You’re sure right about the scene on the hangar deck, it comes in my nightmares. Semper Fi Brother. You did a great job telling the hellish story.
Thank you for your kind comments. This tragedy visits my nightmares although it has diminished but still there especially around my birthday. What has helped me over the years is being remembered by some of those I helped to comfort as they awaited their turn on the table. Semper Fi!
